2. Nature of Service & No Professional Advice
VeriAI is an informational AI content detection tool. It is not, and shall not be construed as, a legal service, academic verification service, forensic analysis service, or government-endorsed certification body. Nothing published on the Platform — including Scan Results, Badge certificates, articles, or community posts — constitutes legal, academic, professional, or expert advice of any kind. VeriAI's detection engine is a probabilistic statistical model. Its outputs represent computed probability estimates, not definitive factual determinations.
3. Accuracy, Limitations & Disclaimer of Warranties
VeriAI's detection engine achieves an approximate accuracy rate of 85% under standard testing conditions. Users acknowledge and accept that:
- False positives will occur: Human-authored content may be incorrectly flagged as AI-generated. This is more common with content written by non-native English speakers, highly structured technical writing, or content that follows formal academic conventions.
- False negatives will occur: AI-generated content may not be detected, particularly when it has been edited, paraphrased, or post-processed.
- No guarantee of reliability: Detection accuracy may vary based on content type, language, length, writing style, and updates to underlying AI models.
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. VERIAI EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL SUCH WARRANTIES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
4. Prohibited Uses of Scan Results
Scan Results must not, under any circumstances, be used as the sole or primary basis for the following actions. Any User who engages in such use does so entirely at their own risk and accepts full legal responsibility for any consequence thereof:
4.1 Academic & Educational Decisions: Scan Results shall not be used as sole or primary evidence in any academic plagiarism investigation, disciplinary proceeding, grade reduction, course failure, suspension, expulsion, or any other formal academic action that may adversely affect a student's academic standing, record, or future opportunities. Institutions and educators using VeriAI accept full institutional responsibility for all decisions made and agree to conduct thorough, independent human review before taking any disciplinary action.
4.2 Employment & HR Decisions: Scan Results shall not be used as the sole basis for rejecting a job application, withdrawing an employment offer, issuing a warning, placing an employee on a performance improvement plan, or terminating employment. A high AI probability score is a probabilistic signal only and does not constitute proof of misconduct.
4.3 Legal & Regulatory Proceedings: Scan Results are not forensic evidence and are inadmissible as expert testimony, scientific proof, or evidentiary material in any court of law, arbitral tribunal, regulatory proceeding, or formal dispute resolution process. Results must not be presented as definitive proof of AI authorship or human authorship in any legal context.
5. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VERIAI, ITS SOLE OWNER, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY NATURE ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF THIS PLATFORM, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
- Loss of income, revenue, profit, data, business, goodwill, or anticipated savings
- Reputational damage, academic harm, or professional prejudice arising from a false positive or false negative result
- Any decision made by a User or third party in reliance on a Scan Result or Badge
- Service interruptions, system failures, data loss, or unauthorised access to User data
- Harm arising from third-party services integrated with the Platform (including Google Gemini API, Razorpay, or Supabase)
Aggregate liability cap: In all circumstances, VeriAI's total aggregate liability to any User shall not exceed the total amount paid by that User to VeriAI in the thirty (30) calendar days immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or ₹500 (Indian Rupees Five Hundred), whichever is the lower amount.
6. User Indemnification
You agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless VeriAI and its owner from and against any and all third-party claims, demands, actions, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and legal expenses (including reasonable solicitor's fees) arising from or relating to: (a) your use or misuse of the Platform or any Scan Result; (b) any decision made by you or any third party acting on your behalf based on a Scan Result or Badge; (c) your breach of any provision of these Terms; (d) your infringement of any intellectual property right or other right of any person; or (e) your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
7. When Consent is Given — Free Users vs. Registered Users
7.1 Free (Unregistered) Users: A Free User who accesses the Platform without creating an account gives legally binding consent to these Terms at the moment they click "I Agree & Continue" on the Terms acceptance modal that appears on first visit. This consent is recorded locally with a timestamp and version number. By proceeding past this modal and submitting any Content for scanning, the Free User irrevocably confirms their acceptance. If a Free User dismisses or bypasses the modal without accepting, use of the Platform is not authorised.
7.2 Registered (Logged-In) Users: A registered User gives consent to these Terms at two binding moments: first, when they click "I Agree & Continue" on the initial Terms modal (identical to Free User consent above); and second, when they complete account creation by clicking "Create Account" or authenticating via Google OAuth on the sign-up screen. At that second moment, consent is recorded server-side against the User's account in our Supabase database, including timestamp, IP address (hashed), and Terms version number. This creates a durable, auditable record of consent that cannot be unilaterally revoked by the User. Continued use of the Platform after any update to these Terms constitutes renewed consent to the updated version.
8. Data Collection & Privacy
8.1 Content submitted for scanning: Text, files, or URLs submitted for analysis are transmitted to the Google Gemini API for processing and are not stored by VeriAI after the scan session ends. VeriAI does not read, retain, republish, or use submitted content for any purpose beyond delivering the Scan Result to the User.
8.2 Account data: For registered Users, we collect and store: email address, display name, subscription status, scan count history, badge records, and anonymised usage analytics. This data is stored on Supabase infrastructure and is not sold, licensed, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
8.3 Payment data: Payment transactions are processed entirely by Razorpay. VeriAI does not receive, store, or process card numbers, UPI IDs, bank account details, or any other payment credentials. Razorpay's privacy policy governs all payment data.
8.4 Your rights: Users in India, the EU, the UK, or any jurisdiction with data protection legislation may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data by emailing [email protected]. We will process all such requests within 30 days in accordance with the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and, where applicable, GDPR.
9. Cookies & Local Storage
VeriAI uses browser localStorage and sessionStorage to maintain session state, remember user preferences, store Terms acceptance records, and collect anonymised usage analytics. We do not use any third-party advertising, retargeting, or behavioural tracking cookies. Analytics data collected is anonymised and aggregated and does not identify individual users. Users may manage their cookie preferences at any time via the Cookie Preferences option in the account menu, or via the consent banner that appears on first visit.
10. Third-Party Services
The Platform integrates the following third-party services: Google Gemini AI (content detection engine), Razorpay (payment processing), Supabase (user authentication and database hosting), and ipapi.co (IP-based geolocation for currency localisation). Each of these services operates under its own terms of service and privacy policy. VeriAI is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, security, or data practices of any third-party service. Service disruptions caused by third-party providers do not give rise to any liability or refund obligation on the part of VeriAI.
11. Subscriptions, Payments & Refund Policy
Pro and Team plan subscriptions are billed on a monthly recurring basis via Razorpay. By initiating a subscription, the User authorises VeriAI to charge the applicable fee to their chosen payment method at the start of each billing cycle.
Non-refundable: All subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing period has commenced. No partial refunds will be issued for cancellations made mid-period. If a User believes a charge was made in error, they must contact [email protected] within seven (7) calendar days of the charge, providing transaction details. VeriAI will investigate and respond within five (5) business days.
Cancellation: Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Access to paid features continues until the period ends. VeriAI reserves the right to modify pricing with fourteen (14) days' advance notice. Continued use of the Platform after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
12. Intellectual Property
12.1 VeriAI's property. The VeriAI name, logo, visual design, user interface, source code, detection signal methodology, original editorial content, and the "The Truth Layer" brand identity are the exclusive intellectual property of VeriAI and its owner. All rights are reserved. No part of the Platform may be reproduced, distributed, reverse engineered, decompiled, scraped, or commercially exploited without prior written authorisation from VeriAI.
12.2 "Verified Human™" badge. The name "Verified Human" and associated badge visual are used by VeriAI under the ™ symbol, indicating claimed but currently unregistered trademark status. VeriAI does not assert registered trademark rights over this phrase at this time. However, third parties may not reproduce the VeriAI badge design, create imitation badges, or represent any certificate as being issued or endorsed by VeriAI.
12.3 Your content — what "you retain all rights" means. You own everything you write. When you submit an article, essay, or piece of text to VeriAI for scanning, you do not give up ownership of that content in any way. VeriAI takes a narrow, time-limited licence solely to run the detection analysis — the equivalent of handing a document to a printer and asking them to copy it. That licence ends the moment the scan is complete. VeriAI does not store your submitted text, does not use it to train AI models, does not republish it, and does not claim any editorial or commercial rights over it. Your intellectual property remains entirely yours before, during, and after the scan.
12.4 Prohibited competitive uses. You may not: (a) systematically scrape or extract data from VeriAI; (b) use VeriAI's Scan Results to build, benchmark, or train a competing AI detection product or service; (c) resell or sublicence VeriAI's detection capability without a written API licence agreement; or (d) represent VeriAI's detection output as your own proprietary analysis to any third party.
13. Service Availability, Modifications & Termination
VeriAI reserves the right to modify, suspend, restrict, or permanently discontinue any feature or the entirety of the Platform at any time, with or without prior notice. Free tier usage limits may be adjusted at any time. VeriAI may terminate or suspend any User's access immediately and without notice if the User breaches these Terms, engages in abusive conduct, or uses the Platform in a manner that endangers other users or third parties. VeriAI is not liable for any loss or disruption resulting from service changes, outages, or account termination.
14. Age Requirement
The Platform is intended for users aged 13 years and above. Users between the ages of 13 and 18 must have obtained verifiable parental or legal guardian consent prior to use. By accepting these Terms, you represent that you satisfy this age requirement. VeriAI reserves the right to terminate accounts where this requirement is found to have been misrepresented.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms of Use are governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Negotiation first: In the event of any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform, the parties agree to first attempt resolution through good-faith written negotiation. The aggrieved party shall send a written notice of dispute to [email protected], and the parties shall have thirty (30) days from receipt of such notice to reach a mutually acceptable resolution.
Jurisdiction: If negotiation fails, both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent civil courts in Pune, Maharashtra, India. For Users located in the European Union or the United Kingdom: nothing in these Terms is intended to, or shall, exclude, restrict, or modify any right or remedy you may have under applicable mandatory consumer protection legislation in your jurisdiction.
16. Severability, Waiver & Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. VeriAI's failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce such provision in the future. These Terms of Use, together with the Privacy Policy embedded herein and the Terms & Conditions of Using the Verified Human™ Badge (where applicable), constitute the entire agreement between you and VeriAI with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersede all prior agreements, representations, or understandings.
Acknowledgement. By using VeriAI — whether as a Free User, Pro User, or Team User — you confirm that you have read these Terms in their entirety, that you understand them, and that you agree to be legally bound by them. These Terms apply to all features of the Platform without exception, including the AI detector, Verified Human™ badge, plagiarism checker, media detection tools, community forum, and AI news feed.
